NYC!

Yay! I started rehearsals in New York City!!! It's so fun I love the city!

I also have a few more restaurants to review I am one is a chain I have never been to so it counts too.

Planet Pizza 8/15
Healthy?1
I mean it's greasy pizza!
Cheap? 3
like $3  for a huge slice, i dont know how it is for the whole pizza.
Yummy? 4
Not the best pizza i have ever had but pretty yummy!

Guy and Gallard 11/15 (I had a make your own salad)

Healthy? 4
what ever you put in it so it can be as healthy as you make it. I didn't give it a 5 cause I have to think in order to get something healthy.
Cheap? 3
$7 for a salad is not GREAT but it depends what you get in it. I have already figured out a way to cut it down to $5. :)
Yummy? 4
I mean it's all up to you! so it can be as yummy as you make it! I didn't give it a 5 cause I had to make decisions about what I wanted instead of letting chefs decide for me.

Ellen's Stardust Diner 7/15

Something cool about this tourist-y place was that it was like dinner and a show all the waiters were singers trying to make it on Broadway and took turns singing while they were waiting. My friend Danny and I went together.
See the singing waiter behind Danny

Healthy? 2
It was an All American Diner... nothing really healthy here. but if you searched and worked at it you could find something i'm sure...
Cheap? 2
it wasn't the priciest place I have ever been to, but it was up there... I paid $15 for a regular hamburger with mushrooms and waffle fries. a soda was $3
Yummy? 3
The meat of the burger was yummy, but the mushrooms were eh. (and I LOVE mushrooms) I made the burger better by adding the Guacamole from Danny's plate that he wasn't going to eat. (it was the bagged stuff again. I know the fresh stuff when I taste it.)

Trying out some new things

Well I have now been here 2 days but I have yet to do any stage managing stuff. But that's ok, the time will come.
My current room

What I have done with those 2 days is paint. I have never painted sets before so oh boy have I learned a lot in 48 hours. I also spiced up my ratty jeans.
People pay money to get jeans that look like this
I packed these jeans because I planned on, at one point or another, having to help paint. I didn't know it would be so soon! I have another day of painting ahead of me before I head over to New York City to watch rehearsal for the show that will open soonest.

In other adventures, I drove around the town I am in and found this,
They don't have these in Texas.
I was super excited and went in to buy milk and cereal. The cashier, Eric, was very nice and friendly. I shall go back.

I also ventured out to try some local food. (P.S. I actually stopped here on my way to MA last summer and we ate lunch, got fuel and took a picture with a fire station...crazy)
There are Three real things I look for when I try out a new place to eat; Was it Healthy? Was it Cheap? and Was it Yummy?
(Scale of 1[not at all]-5[very!])
My review of a local Mexican Restaurant "Los Cabos"

Presentation was the only good thing

Los Cabos 6/15
Healthy? 2
It's Mexican Food... I wasn't expecting healthy, but if it was I could justify spending the money.
Cheap? 2
the margarita was $8!!! What! it wasn't very good. definitely not $8 good. No entrĂ©es were less than $10.
Yummy? 2
The salsa had NO flavor, at all. not spicy, not like ketsup, NOTHING. the grilled shrimp was good, but how can you mess that up? The guac was NOT fresh tasted like it was from a package.
Comments: I will not go there again. It just wasn't Mexican food...

Today I went to a little organic food store in Playhouse Square Shopping Center next door to the Theater. (I can't remember the name.) No pic but I had 6" Turkey Meatloaf.
11/15
Healthy? 4
All fresh and Organic ingredients! It was Turkey and not Beef! But I am not sure exactly how many calories or what all was inside.
Cheap? 3
$10 was a little steep, BUT it was by weight so maybe next time I should get something that weighs less.
Yummy? 4
Moist & fresh! I would have liked some more sauce on the top. but it was tasty.
Comments: I will go there again. They have a HUGE selection of organic tea! and all kinds of organic foodstuffs The prices of the things I looked at were reasonable,  but I will do my research before I buy anything.

I also am starting knitting a scarf with a couple of these yarns.
More info on the scarf to come!
That's all for now!

In the North

I made it to Connecticut and am kinda settled in. (I will be moving to the REAL intern housing next week so no point in getting too comfortable.)
My dad and I made the drive from Texas to Connecticut in 2.5 days and we probably could have done it faster, but we wanted to take our time.
We spent the first night at a really shady hotel in Nashville, and the second night at a nicer shady hotel an hour outside of Baltimore, where I dropped off my dad at the airport and drove the rest of the way by myself.
I didn't take nearly as many pictures on the road as I planned to but I did see a funny sign at a rest stop in Virginia.

It's COLD here!I was told that it is in fact colder than usual and that it should warm up soon. I'm just glad I brought Dallas winter clothes.
People drive around like they were in Fahrenheit 451. It's actually kinda terrifying, but I shall conquer the skill.

I heard I would be painting today so I guess I will start my real job tomorrow.

Pray for Alan, he starts his transcontinental bicycle trip today!

New Chapter, New Blog

Hi I'm Amy, I just graduated from college with a BA in Drama and tomorrow I will be off to CT to start as a Stage Management Intern at a theater! I am so excited about this next chapter of my life and have decided to blog about it.

My plan is that this blog will be about:

Sewing -and knitting and crochet and all other crafty things I do
Stage Managing - maybe lessons I learn in the theater or templates... I'm not sure, but this will take up the majority of my day so I figure I will end up writing about it.

and
Surviving -I am only making a small stipend each week so I will have to be creative about how I spend my money while still eating healthy and trying to keep sane.

So that is my plan, but as one of my professors once told me, quoting Woody Allen, "If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans" so I am keeping my mind open.

Well I guess that is all for today. I have a feeling the next time I post I will be in CT!
